Best of berrichons ewe sale
Weight recording all our lambs give buyers the opportunity to purchase rams which the best growth rate. We usually sell about 20 of our best ram lambs each year, giving buyers the knowledge the have the best genetic available.
We have one of the larger flocks in the UK. Established in 1999 from primarily Strathallan ewes, we have rigorously monitored our ewes recording lamb weights, similar to the french breeding system. Quoting 30, 70 and 100 day weights.
Every year we join with 3 other prominent berrichon flocks having a production sale of in lamb yearling ewes, the second Saturday in November at McCartneys Worcester. Woodston, Strathallan, Swincombe and Incledon flock will be selling 50 ewes on 15th November 2014 for more information www.berrichonco.uk
Woodston Berrichons were formed in 1998. Our flock aim is to produce a commercial tups which suit supermarket demands and females which are low input with good maternal traits, including milkiness, but not compromising on shape.
To do this we have imported semen from France from some of the best rams for confirmation and milkiness. To keep fresh bloodlines in the country we have also import Deerpark Paddy from Mrs. Ruth Kelso, Bunclody, Eire
Woodston was the first flock to export Berrichons to Germany, rams in 2006 and ewe lambs in 2007 & 2008. In 2010 we imported Andre, the Düvel family near Hannover and Perry from Axel Pistol at Badbergen, these rams were at the top rams of the impressive German recording system.
Andre and Perry went on to produce some good quality lambs for maternal and meatiness traits, the results of which have come through with the younger ewes currently producing more lambs, but maintaining growth rates.
In 2012 we have returned to Germany to visit en ever expanding national Berrichon flock, moving forward by supplying ewes and rams to Austria, Lithuania and Czechoslovakia.
